Summary
On Whole Cake Island, at Yonji Castle in the Kingdom of Germa, Sanji duels his father — the Vinsmoke patriarch and generalissimo of Germa 66, called “The Garuda.” Sanji refuses to use his hands (“My hands exist to cook”), fights leg-only with Diable Jambe, and reveals he can now wield Haki, which stuns Judge. Intercut childhood flashbacks show the four Vinsmoke brothers — all born on the same day — bullying and caging young Sanji (#3), the “failure” who cooked, until Judge declared him no son of his. In the present, Judge explains his ambition: ally with Big Mom through the political marriage so Germa can conquer the North Blue and restore its lost empire, calling Sanji his “sacrifice.” When Sanji rejects all of it, Judge snaps exploding Celestial-Dragon slave-cuffs onto Sanji’s wrists — restraints Big Mom lent him and whose key she keeps — to guarantee Sanji cannot flee the island before the wedding. Judge then murmurs that “years ago… I remembered…”
New reveals
- Vinsmoke Judge is shown and named (chapter title): Sanji’s father, head of the Vinsmoke, generalissimo of Germa 66, epithet “The Garuda.” He fights a body-blow style fused with Germa science weaponry (Electro-Magnetic Crack, Blaster, E.M. Shaft) — “war spurs on scientific progress.”
- Vinsmoke Yonji (the fourth son) appears in the present being repaired by a hydraulic press after Sanji dented his metal-reinforced face, and as a child (#4) in flashback.
- A pink-haired Vinsmoke woman — Sanji’s elder sister (series-canon Reiju; not named on these pages) — watches and questions Sanji (“Is a birth father really that special…?”, “You’re the same Sanji I remember”).
- The four brothers were all born on the same day (“so how are you the only failure?!”) — an engineered-birth tell.
- Sanji can now wield Haki; Judge: “To think the Sanji I knew can now wield Haki…”
- Germa soldiers carry Vinsmoke blood — “the true backbone of Germa’s might”; the army is referenced as wearing raid suits (Sanji fights without one).
- Judge’s dream: with Big Mom’s backing, conquer the North Blue and rebuild Germa’s former empire; the marriage is the price (“she demands a family connection”).
- Exploding slave-cuffs: the same restraints the Celestial Dragons put on slaves — blow the hands off at the wrist if the wearer tries to escape their master. Big Mom lent a set to Judge and holds the key.

Open questions raised
- What is the “memory from years ago” Judge recalls at the end — and does it explain why he, of all his children, wants Sanji for this marriage rather than another son?
- Germa once had an “empire” it intends to reclaim in the North Blue — what was it, and how did it fall?
- Why were the four brothers all born the same day — and what was done to them (and to Sanji) as children?
- Can the exploding slave-cuffs be removed without Big Mom’s key, and how will the crew free Sanji?
