Chapter 770: The Spear of Elbaph

Summary

Dressrosa, present day — the King’s/Palace Plateau battle. Luffy refuses to fight the conflicted Bellamy (“There’s no reason for me to fight you!!!”), and Bellamy attacks anyway with his spring-driven spiked weapon to prove his determination “isn’t that shallow.” Above, on the Palace Plateau’s second step, Zoro duels Pica’s city-sized stone colossus (Ishi Ishi no Mi); the colosseum ally Orlumbus clears soldiers with “Killer Bowling” and tells Zoro the stone monster is his to handle, while Pica’s ridiculous high-pitched laugh restarts the soprano-voice running gag. Sai fights Baby 5, whose can’t-refuse-being-needed compulsion makes her hear his combat taunts (“Will you follow me?!” / “I’ll never let you go!”) as romantic declarations — she blushes, “You need me, don’t you?! ♡,” and says she no longer cares whose side she’s on. The giant Hajrudin of Elbaf, crushed under Machvise’s “Hellish 10,000-Ton Vise,” rises with one arm and unleashes “Gungnir,” launching the 10,000-ton Machvise up into the top of the Birdcage, which slices him to bits; Zoro finishes the falling officer.

• Hajrudin defeats Machvise with “Gungnir!!!!” — a one-armed giant punch that hurls the 10,000-ton officer up into the Birdcage’s lethal top, then Zoro slices him on the way down (pp. 14–17). The chapter title “The Spear of Elbaph” keys to Gungnir (Odin’s spear; Elbaf’s Norse motif).

• Pica’s soprano-voice gag continues — his towering stone form laughs “Pikya pikya pikya-lala…,” and the fighters mock it, enraging him (p. 8).
