Name meaning
The 'Abyss' (アビス Abisu, English 'abyss') manifested as a 五芒星 (gobōsei, five-pointed pentagram) / 魔法陣 (mahōjin, magic circle) — an occult summoning-circle motif. 'Abyss' (a bottomless void/deep) resonates with Elbaf's Norse cosmology — the yawning primordial gap Ginnungagap and the death-realm Niflheim — and with the giants' 'Underworld' below the Sun World; the Norse tie is thematic, not stated on-page.

Structural lore — first named on-page Ch. 1140.

What we know

  • Ch. 1179 Imu’s personal transit uses the same glyph-language at vastly greater scale — a runed pentagram circle in the Pangaea garden (p. 6) and an island-scale sky pentagram on black-pillar legs over Aurust Castle (pp. 11–12). The Holy Knights’ Abyss Pentagram now reads as a lesser grade of Imu’s own transit/summoning system. (Inference: glyph-family match is visual.)
