- Name meaning
- **足長族 Ashinaga-zoku** = 'Long-Leg Tribe' (VIZ: 'Longleg'; Funimation: 'Longfeet'). Based on the Japanese/Chinese legendary being **Ashinaga-jin** (足長人, 'long-legged one'), traditionally paired with the long-armed **Tenaga-jin** as **Ashinaga-Tenaga** (足長手長, 'Long-Legs-Long-Arms') — a folkloric duo who fish the sea together, the long-armed one riding the long-legged one's shoulders to reach deep water. The Longleg Tribe is the deliberate complement to the Longarm Tribe (手長族 Tenaga-zoku), splitting the single yokai pair across two One Piece races.

First named from a line on the Sabaody slave-auction price list (Ch. 501); the first member — the Jiaokungdo martial artist Blue Gilly — is shown on-page in the Corrida Colosseum Ch. 707.
