- Name meaning
- カライ・バリ (Karai Bari) is a near-homophone split of the Japanese word 空威張り / からいばり (karaibari), lit. 'empty bluster / false bravado / putting on a show of strength one doesn't have' — an exact fit for Buggy, who has bluffed and lucked his way into infamy and a crew that worships him. VIZ localizes it as 'Emptee Bluffs', preserving the pun (empty + bluffs/bluster). The naming is character-thematic, not a real-world place reference.
