Giants Honor Doctrine Die Gloriously

The seed

First explicit articulation of the die-with-honor Elbaf doctrine in full. Three doctrine-components installed:

1. Lifespan-amplified honor — long lifespan amplifies the cultural importance of how one dies over whether one lives.
2. Honor as eternal treasure of the homeland — honor outlasts both material things and life itself; it is the eternal treasure the homeland preserves.
3. Glorious death as Elbaf-warrior-fulfillment — if we can die with honor, our deaths can be glorious — the warrior’s death is the highest fulfillment of the Elbaf cultural register.

Why this matters

Forward-pattern across the entire series: This doctrine governs the combat-register of every Elbaf-affiliated character Oda introduces, from the East-Blue chapters all the way through the Final Saga:

• Oars (Thriller Bark) — giant zombie body weaponized into Moria’s combat-doctrine; Oars’s combat-register is the die-with-honor doctrine retrofitted into a zombie-warrior register.
• Little Oars Jr. (Marineford) — charge the gates alone to die gloriously is the literal embodiment of this doctrine. Little Oars Jr.’s death-charge at Marineford is the Ch. 117 doctrine cashed in full.
• Hajrudin (Dressrosa, Grand Fleet recruit) — joins Luffy’s Grand Fleet because he registers Luffy’s combat as warrior-honor-doctrine-aligned.
• Loki, Jarul, and the Elbaf giants (Final-Saga Elbaf arc, ~Ch. 1130+) — the doctrine becomes the load-bearing cultural-register for the entire saga.
• Usopp’s internalization (Ch. 117 p.15 same chapter) — ‘So honor is a TREASURE!!’ — the doctrine is internalized by a Strawhat in the chapter it is canonized, pre-loading every later Usopp-as-honor-warrior beat.

The eternal treasure construction is a deliberate echo of the One Piece itself as eternal-treasure — installing the honor / glory / treasure equivalence-grammar that recurs through every later honor-vs-treasure beat in the series. By Ch. 117, the One Piece is not yet revealed, but the conceptual equivalence between honor and treasure is now canonized — pre-loading the eventual revelation that the One Piece is not just gold but something with honor-and-glory dimensions (Joy Boy’s legacy, the laughter of the Pirate King, the Will-of-D inheritance).

Math implication: A 100-year duel is temporally trivial within a giant’s 3x-human-lifespan (per Giants Triple Human Lifespan Reveal) but morally maximal under this doctrine. The duel-doctrine and the lifespan-doctrine interlock — the long lifespan is precisely what makes the die-with-honor doctrine load-bearing for giants in a way it could not be for humans.
