Blackbeard’s two-fruit acquisition (Yami Yami no Mi + Gura Gura no Mi, taken from Whitebeard’s corpse Ch. 576) is publicly demonstrated Ch. 577: Teach wields both fruits at once and survives, the Marines confirming the feat was “thought impossible” for “normal humans.” The rule-being-broken is confirmed on-page; the mechanism by which Teach’s body sustains two fruits remains an open mystery — see Blackbeard Multiple Fruits.

Why this matters
Oda plants an in-world “absolute” rule inside the mouth of a character who immediately dismisses it as a rumor — a double tell. The dialogue-from-a-minor-CP9-agent register makes it read as throwaway folklore, while Lucci’s skepticism quietly licenses the eventual rule-break. Generalize: when a “law of the world” is stated by a low-stakes character and a high-competence character waves it off in the same breath, Oda is loading a rule to be broken later by a major player. The companion SBS “one bite = one user” doctrine (Vol. 38) formalizes the baseline; this is the in-story planting of it.
