Kin’emon details the rebellion’s full coded meeting-symbol — two birds on fire over a pit-viper habu , plus a reversed crescent moon = “the symbol of rebellion” — distributed on flyers, with the ally-mark worn on the left foot ; rendezvous at the “twilight second hour of the bird” at Habu Port Fire Festival . (“The people of Wano will understand it.”)
Kin’emon states the mark’s operational purpose outright: “the moon tattoos are not just a fashionable fad… it is the samurai who were apprehended for bearing them.” Yasuie died to keep this secret, and freeing the tattooed prisoners to rally the capital’s samurai is now the operational hinge of the Onigashima raid (p. 12).
