On the unveiling of the new ship, Franky pointedly asks “Did you see the soldier dock system that I invented?!” (pp. 16-17). The mechanism is named but its function is withheld — a classic explicit Chekhov gun aboard the crew’s new vessel. Recorded as a pending seed (no on-page payoff within this chapter); the ship itself is still unnamed here.

Why this matters

Oda’s “name-the-mechanism, withhold-the-function” prop-tell: a feature is explicitly named aboard a new long-haul vessel so its later reveal pays off as a planted gun rather than an asspull. The new ship’s hull systems are pre-loaded here for forward arcs.
