Sentomaru drops his axe and lands a bare-handed blunt “Sumo Strike” on Luffy — and it hurts him , despite Luffy’s rubber body that normally lets blunt/velocity attacks rebound harmlessly. The crew’s explicit confusion (“Why are his blunt strikes working on Luffy? He’s supposed to be made of rubber!!”) is the chekhov-explicit flag: a stated impossibility the narrative is obliged to explain. This is an on-page strike that bypasses a Paramecia body’s defining defense — the Armament-Haki strand, distinct from the Conqueror’s-presence strand already labeled “Haki” at the auction house.
