Sanji + Orbit cooks (Ch. 56)

The legendary ocean — Sanji’s recruitment-MacGuffin dream, and the guild-wide aspiration of seafaring cooks. Named on-page first time in Ch. 56.

What we know

The All Blue is a legendary ocean. Named on-page for the first time in Ch. 56 page 15-16 by Sanji: “Yes… The ‘All Blue’.” / “It’s the name of the legendary ocean.”

It is the dream-object of the seafaring-cooks guild — the Orbit cooks articulate the dream as guild-wide on page 16-17 (“We’re seafaring cooks. We’ve all dreamed of sailing that ocean at least once.”). Child-Sanji also articulates the dream in the flashback (“Someday, I’m gonna find that ocean!!” — page 16).

What we don’t know yet

  • Geography: Where is the All Blue? Is it on the Grand Line? Beyond it? In a specific sea?
  • Physics: What is legendary about it? Why is it a cook’s dream specifically? (Pattern-forecast: it is the ocean where fish from all four Blues — North, South, East, West — coexist; ergo a cook’s paradise of available ingredients.)
  • Significance: Is it Joy-Boy-era? Void-Century-related? A pre-existing geographic feature?
  • Zeff’s relation: Did Zeff (the captain of the Pirate Cooks) also dream of the All Blue? The chapter’s implication is yes (he is a seafaring cook), and his giving-up-the-dream-to-save-Sanji is the structural shape Sanji’s dreams line in page 9-10 (“I took everything that old man had. His dreams!!!”) refers to.

Significance

The All Blue is Sanji’s recruitment-MacGuffin — the missing fourth Straw-Hat-element (dream) named in this chapter (Sanji All Blue Dream). The named-then-detailed-then-pursued three-stage runway for the recruitment-pivot is initialized here. The dream is not Sanji-individual; it is guild-wide — a structural distinction that elevates it from character-MacGuffin to world-building element.
