The seed

In the 22-years-ago flashback, as a 12-year-old apprentice (Cutty Flam), Franky obsessively builds numbered “Battle Frankies” — destructive battleship robots (up to “Model Eight”) — while Iceberg insists they’re only supposed to be helping Tom build ships, not “rattle-traps” and “weapons” that get people killed (pp. 10–14).

The weapon-building obsession is the explicit origin tell for Franky’s later genius and — by inference — his connection to the world’s most dangerous warship blueprint, the Pluton plans he inherits (the ultimate warship). Pre-keys his role as the blueprint’s custodian and as a master shipwright/weapons-smith.

Why it’s a seed (not yet resolved)

The chapter establishes the weapon-building origin but does not yet tie the “Battle Franky” obsession to Pluton on-page. Kept status: pending.
