Why this matters
A name as a buried emotional rhyme. Oda gives the captive Sanji a childhood hero — Sora, Warrior of the Sea — whose name is reused, sixteen chapters later, for the dead mother who alone protected Sanji’s humanity from Germa. The shared name + shared anti-Germa stance makes the comic a quiet stand-in for the mother throughout the Vinsmoke flashback: the boy who clung to a sea-warrior named Sora was clinging to his mother’s legacy.
