The seed
The Arlong-Pirates anti-human doctrine is the captain’s doctrine; the first-mate is gentle by default. Pairs with Hatchan Octopus Fish-Man First Mate for the full redeemability-pre-load.
Why this matters
The cannot-tell-humans-from-fishmen tell is a negative-doctrine tell — Hatchan is shown to not have internalized the central villain-doctrine of his crew. The first-mate, structurally the second-in-command and ideological echo of the captain, is here shown to be doctrinally incomplete. This is the same character-grammar Oda uses for Gin (Don Krieg’s loyalty-breaker): a high-rank subordinate who fails to internalize the captain’s worst doctrine becomes the redeemable seam in the villain organization.
