The seed

Ch. 11 — pages 6 & 7 (folk-myth repeated by two protagonists)

Two crew members independently repeat the wrong tree-origin folk-explanation in the same chapter: Nami (p. 6): “I thought the stories about the devil fruit were just myths!” — the framing here is “I had heard of these but didn’t think they were real,” implicitly accepting the layman’s tree-fruit cosmology. Zoro (p. 7): “I heard that this clown had eaten devil-tree fruit. I should have been prepared!” — the literal phrase “devil-tree fruit” used to describe the Bara Bara no Mi. Two protagonist-level repetitions of the wrong folk explanation, ten chapters in. Re-affirms the reader-calibration rule: in-universe character DF lore is myth, not canon. The Vegapunk reveal at Ch. 1069 (DFs are wish-images, not species-tree fruit) eventually overturns this.
