The payoff
- Forward-flashback (~Ch. 77+): the original fight-and-die armed-resistance is the Bell-mère-era event in which Bell-mère is killed. The vow’s origin is the Nami-backstory flashback’s emotional summit.
- Forward-arc: the vow is the moral spine the arc tests — Chabo (Ch. 70 vow-breaker, vow-violator-from-grief), Usopp (Ch. 72 vow-violator-from-outside), Luffy. The vow’s broken state at arc-climax is the precondition for liberation.
- Forward-individual: Nami’s secret 100M-berry buyback contract is the private version of the same endurance-vow — endure inside the regime, pay off the village, then leave. Both vows break in the same arc-climactic chapter.
