One of the triplet brothers of the priest Satori and, with Kotori, a sub-commander of the Heavenly Warriors (Enel’s God’s Army). Debuts on the Going Merry confronting Nami and the wounded Gan Fall.

- Fights Nami and the “Weird Knight” (Gan Fall) with the priests’ four-dial arsenal (Scent, Impact, Axe, Flame) and a “Surprise Dial Illusion” two-hand shell-game (“now! who is Hotori and who is Kotori?!”) shared with his brother Kotori.
- Defeated by Nami’s Cyclone Tempo (pp. 14-15). The twins cite avenging Satori, who was beaten earlier in the survival game (“these two beat brother Satori!”).
Skypiea (Ch. 261) — debut on the Going Merry
- Debuts on the Going Merry confronting Nami and the wounded Gan Fall (with Pierre), laughing (“HO HO HO!”) and demanding revenge for Satori — “You’ll pay for what you did to our brother Satori!… how dare you bring down our bro!!” (pp. 15-16).
- Self-introduces: “Of course you know him! My name is Hotori!” Plans (with Gan Fall opposite) to be “ascertained” by dials before engaging.
Etymology
- Sound-motif: ホトリ Hotori is built as a rhyme-sibling of Satori (サトリ = 悟り, Zen Buddhist “enlightenment” — Oda confirms his triplet brother Satori’s name in SBS Vol. 29 p.46, where he and a fan discuss that Enel’s subordinates are named after religious concepts). The three triplets — Sa·tori / Ho·tori / Ko·tori — form a deliberate -tori rhyme-set, reinforced by their shared “HO HO HO” laugh.
- Possible pun (speculative): コトリ Kotori is a homophone of 小鳥 “small bird”; given the sky/bird register some read Hotori/Kotori as bird-flavored, but no SBS confirms a bird gloss for these two — the sourced layer is the rhyme-on-Satori, not a bird meaning.
