Etymology

Comane (コマネ, Komane; VIZ “Comane”) puns on the Romanian gymnast Nadia Comăneci, whose surname is rendered コマネチ (Komanechi) in Japanese and clipped to コマネ. The Lulucia royal line carries a broader Romania theme — Romanian vampire folklore and Vlad the Impaler — per the One Piece Wiki’s name trivia.
