Weatheria — a small sky island whose inhabitants “study the science of weather.” Tightly tied “wind knots” release gusts of wind (gust / breeze / gale) when untied. Nami is flung here by Kuma’s paw after the Sabaody scatter and taken in by its weather scientists (pp. 14–15). Her stunned reaction: “S-sky island?!”

Etymology

Weatheria (ウェザリア Wezaria) — English weather + the Latinate place-name suffix -ia (“land of ~”), i.e. “land of weather.” An on-the-nose name for an artificial sky island of weather scientists, and the pointedly fitting scatter destination for Nami the navigator/weather-reader. Per the Strong World Oda artbook, Weatheria was the early-draft home of a four-crystal weather-controlling weapon, so the weather theme predates this arc.

• Ch. 523 — first appearance. Kuma’s paw flung Nami here; tied up after a violent welcome, she discovers the locals’ wind-knot science.
• Ch. 592 — Nami steals weather balls, research notes, and a balloon and escapes to reach the blue sea, taking the scientist Haredas hostage. Establishes “wind knots” (tied wind that releases as a gust when untied) (pp. 8-11).
