An elderly weather scientist (meteorologist) of the sky island Weatheria. When Nami robs the island and flees by balloon, she takes him hostage to cover her escape (pp. 8-11). Addressed throughout as “Mr. Haredas.”
Etymology
Confidence: high · ハレダス Haredasu (VIZ “Haredas”) puns on AMeDAS (アメダス) — Japan’s real Automated Meteorological Data Acquisition System, the Japan Meteorological Agency’s nationwide weather-observation network. The name swaps the 雨 ame (“rain”) in AMeDAS for 晴れ hare (“clear / sunny”), so “Haredas” ≈ “sunny-DAS” — fitting the elderly weather scientist who tutors Nami the navigator.
