The seed
The chapter closes on a negative-space silhouette tease: a row of legs, hakama-hems and boots rendered as flat black shapes over the festival stone floor, with “KTOK KTOK” footstep SFX and the caption “THE TOBI ROPPO… …HAVE ARRIVED!!” (p. 16), then a second feet-only panel as Kaido bellows “SEND THEM IN!!!” (p. 17). Six figures are present-and-counted (“Master Kaido, all six of the Tobi Roppo are present!!”) but no member is identified — the silhouette withholds every face, costume and power. The feet-only framing is the cliffhanger: the reader knows an elite six has assembled, but not who.
The payoff
One chapter later (chapter title: “Introducing the Tobi Roppo”), the withheld silhouette is fully resolved into the antagonist officer-roster label-card grammar. Each of the six gets a formal one-line caption-card nameplate — WHO’S-WHO / PAGE ONE / ULTI (p. 16), SASAKI / X. DRAKE / BLACK MARIA (p. 17) — as the squad is shown lounging together as a single elite unit on the festival platform, the lower-left “TOBI ROPPO / PIRATES” band tagging the whole roster. The same six feet that were anonymous shapes a chapter earlier are now archetype-perfect full-figure renders, each stamped with the proper-name caption that marks a named antagonist of operational weight.
The mirror (shared invariants)
- Same six bodies, withheld → revealed — the negative-space feet (977) are literally the legs of the figures the 978 cards name. The silhouette is the redaction; the label-card is the reveal.
- Roster, not solo — both panels field the Flying Six as one consolidated unit (the counted-and-assembled silhouette → the line-up shown bickering together), not six separate coronations.
- Formal caption-card nameplate per member — the one-line
