Ch. 109 page 10 — Ms. Wednesday: “And now for the finale… All right, Karoo!! Peacock Slasher!!!” — Karoo launches peacock-feather-patterned throwing-blades from his saddle-gear.
Why this matters
The peacock is one of the most universally royal-coded birds in heraldry — symbol of vanity, royal-court luxury, and the eye-pattern that signifies all-seeing-royal-authority. Vivi’s combat-style being literally peacock-themed is the iconography-leak of her secret royal-princess identity — a careful reader can decode the disguise from the attack-aesthetic.
Forward-pattern: every later Vivi-combat-encounter in the Alabasta arc proper continues to feature peacock-and-royal-iconography weapons (slashers, javelins, the royal-color blue/yellow). The peacock-slasher is the first canonical instance of the iconography-leak technique applied to Vivi.
The disguise is meant to obscure her name (Ms. Wednesday, not Nefertari Vivi) but it broadcasts her status (peacock + spirals + ponytailed-noble bearing + giant-bird mount). This parallels the Nefertari-name technique: just as the surname Nefertari encodes queen-of-queens lineage centuries before payoff, the Ms. Wednesday combat-aesthetic encodes princess of Alabasta status chapters before her real-identity reveal. Together they instantiate Oda’s identity-leak-via-multiple-channels (name + aesthetic + behavior) doctrine.
