First on-page proof Baroque Works has had close personal contact with the King of Alabasta — close enough for an officer to have touched his face. The chapter pre-loads forward-canon: Bon Clay’s false-king deployment, the entire arc’s identity-warfare grammar.

The payoff

Ch. 171 pp. 10-19 — Bon Clay walks into Nanohana wearing King Cobra’s face

In royal robes, gold chains, and Cobra’s face deployed from his Mane Mane memory-library, Bon Clay walks into the port city of Nanohana and addresses the citizens: “This is my way of apologizing… for taking the rain of this country!! I’m going to sacrifice Nanohana… in order to put that despicable dance powder incident behind us…” (pp. 10-11). Publicly confesses to the dance powder plot (“I did.”, p. 14). Orders the Royal-Army-impersonator squad to “burn this corrupt city to the ground!!” and shoots Koza point-blank in the chest with a flintlock pistol (KLAK!!, p. 14). At chapter end (pp. 18-19) Crocodile and Robin walk into the burning city and Crocodile congratulates the actor: “You were superb, Mr. 2 Bon Clay!” Bon Clay (still in Cobra face, swan-rings popped back on): “How’d you like my King act?” — first on-page Crocodile-Bon Clay direct interaction; the boss-praises-the-actor register canonizes the Mane Mane as Crocodile’s strategic Operation-Utopia asset, not a comic-relief power.

The Ch. 0156 seed was extraordinarily slow-burned (~15 chapters) and cashes at the war-engine tier as Operation Utopia’s casus belli trigger. The Strawhat-side counter (Ch. 0157 X-mark fellowship-sign) saves the crew; the rebel-army has no such counter and walks straight into the trap.
