Technique stack

• name-etymology — Kurahadōru embeds Kuro. The pirate’s real name is audible in the cover-name. Compare Roronoa Zolo Name Before Face for Oda’s other name-encoded-tell prototypes; also Buggy Nose Taboo / Buggy Chop-Chop Cannon Naming.
• wardrobe-foreshadow — Klahadore’s round glasses + slick-back hair + tight-collar suit are the same silhouette the eventual Captain Kuro reveal will keep. The wardrobe does not change between cover-identity and pirate-identity. See Klahadore Silhouette Reveal.
• chekhov-explicit — Merry’s “HE’S A PIRATE!!!” line is the explicit articulation of the truth the chapter’s title (“Truth”) names.
• dialogue-from-near-dead-character — Merry (near-dead in a pool of blood) delivers the testimony. The near-dead-witness-tells-the-truth pattern is Oda’s standard reveal-grammar for chapter-pivot truths.

Why this matters

The Klahadore/Kuro reveal is the first Oda villain-identity reveal in the series that is staged across multiple chapters with the audience-knowing-before-the-characters-know structure. The Buggy-arc villain (Ch 9 reveal) was straightforwardly introduced as the antagonist. The Klahadore/Kuro reveal is parcelled out: Ch 23 introduces the silhouette; Ch 24 reveals Klahadore’s face; Ch 26 reveals the Kuro identity to the reader; Ch 31 reveals it to the household. This parcelled-reveal technique becomes Oda’s standard for major villain-identity reveals (Crocodile-as-Mr. 0, Rob Lucci-as-CP9, Vergo, etc.).
