The Arlong-Pirates species-coded combat-grammar
The Ch. 84 chapter (with prior Ch. 75 / Ch. 83 setup) canonizes the Arlong-Pirates officer combat-system as species-coded at the officer-individual scale:
- Arlong = saw-shark fish-man — chomp-attack (cannonball-eat Ch. 75); saw-tooth bite
- Hatchan = octopus fish-man — Ink Jet, Six-Sword Style (six-arm-coded), Octopus-Fritter Frenzy
- Choo = kisser/puffer fish-man — water-cannon mouth-spit (Ch. 75); underwater-rudder-sabotage
- Kuroobi = ray fish-man + kuro-obi (black belt) — Fish-Man Karate
The organizing principle: each officer’s combat-vocabulary is sourced to their species-trait + species-coded martial-art tradition. The Arlong-Pirates’ combat-grammar is species-instance-specialized racism in its mechanical expression.
Forward-payoff
Every fish-man combat-character across the series inherits this species-coded combat-vocabulary template:
- Jinbei (whale-shark) — Fish-Man Karate at whale-shark-tier mass + species-coded grappling
- Hody Jones (great-white shark) — saw-tooth bite, anti-human-supremacist combat-doctrine (Hatchan/Arlong successor)
- Hyouzou (eight-sword octopus) — direct successor to Hatchan’s six-sword-style at species-coded tier
- All Fish-Man Island combat-characters (Ch. 612+) inherit the species-coded template
- Wadatsumi (large fish), Surume (kraken), Caribou-era characters — all extensions
The chapter is the template-installation for the entire fish-man combat-system of the series.
