Why this matters
Both panels deploy the same establishing grammar, beat for beat:
- A wide high-angle vista of a once-thriving, specifically-named town (the Green City Erumalu / the Village of Woven Hats Amigasa), drawn dense with rubble and emptied of people.
- A DOOM-class SFX lettered across the vista itself (literal “DOOM!!” / the Japanese “どどん!! DOON” rendered “DOOM!!”) — the sound of arrival landing on a corpse of a town, not a living one.
- It is the first locale the Straw Hats encounter on entering the kingdom-arc, and it is already destroyed when they arrive — the saga opens after the catastrophe, not before it. This pre-loads the urgency: the crew is racing to reverse an active collapse, not prevent a looming one.
- Narration names the tyrant directly over the ruin (Crocodile’s engineered drought / Kaido’s headliner X. Drake razing the village), converting the establishing shot into an indictment.
