Etymology
- Surface meaning: Given in English on the label card as “Sandworm” — a giant burrowing earthworm. The odd one out: unlike the other four it names no single classical yokai.
- Real-world reference: Most commonly read as the Mongolian Death Worm (Olgoi-Khorkhoi) of Central-Asian cryptid folklore and its modern fantasy descendants — most famously the sandworms of Dune. Ju Peter’s monster (“It dove under!! An earthworm?!”) burrows beneath Egghead.
- Naming layers (Gorosei set):
- Planet: Ju Peter = JUPITER = 木星, the Wuxing WOOD star — the silkworm/mealworm feeds on the mulberry (a tree/wood association).
