The crew’s epithet first lands with its captain at the fleet’s arrival (Ch. 551); the crew is named outright in Ch. 572 (“It’s the Whirl Spider Pirates!! Squard!!”, p. 12) when Squard rolls his ship onto the battlefield to aid the evacuation and to offer his life in atonement for having stabbed Pops.
