Doflamingo’s string Devil Fruit awakens on-page in Ch. 785 (p. 8) during the Gear-Fourth duel with Luffy. Where his power had previously been used on his own body and on living people (“Parasite”), the awakened form transforms inanimate surroundings — the buildings and ground of Dressrosa turn into string he can wield, prompting onlookers to note he no longer behaves like a normal Paramecia (“It’s almost like he isn’t a Paramythia!!”).

New awakened attacks seen as the town turns to string:

• Off-White (p. 7) — strings erupting from the ground. (盾白糸 / オフホワイト — kanji “shield white thread”; reads as the colour “off-white.”)
• Billow-White (p. 16) — “The town’s full of strings!!” (大波白糸 / ビローホワイト — kanji “billow white thread”; reads as “billow white.”)

Etymology

Doflamingo’s awakened-string moves all follow a ”___ White” scheme — Oda’s signature kanji-meaning ÷ furigana-reading split, where the kanji describe the attack’s function and the furigana give an English near-white colour name that extends his white-feather/white-coat colour motif:

• Off-White = 盾白糸 (furigana オフホワイト Ofu Howaito) — kanji literally “Shield White Thread” (a defensive wall/mass of strings), read as the colour “off-white.”
• Billow-White = 大波白糸 (furigana ビローホワイト Birō Howaito) — kanji literally “Billow / Big-Wave White Thread” (buildings reared up into towering waves of string), read as “billow white.” (Some scanlations rendered it “Pillow White.”)
• The naming run continues later with Ever White (海原白波), keeping the white-colour furigana convention.
