Structural lore — Caesar Clown’s anti-Emperor poison-gas assassination weapon, unveiled Ch. 859.
What we know
- Ch. 859: A purpose-built assassination weapon devised by Caesar Clown for the coup against Big Mom (p. 5). Bege’s alliance will fire it once Big Mom is weakened.
- Ch. 859: Fires shells each loaded with a full five-gram dose of lethal “glorious organophosphate gas” (pp. 5-6) — among the few weapons in the world that could harm an Emperor. Caesar brought one shell for the job plus two spares.
- Ch. 859: Two conditions must be met for it to work — Big Mom’s body must first be weakened (her defensive resistance dropped) and the killers must have a clear ~5-second window, both arranged by splitting the Mother Carmel portrait at the tea party (pp. 5-9). The killers rely on earplugs (the “Invisible Symphonia System”) to survive Big Mom’s scream during the window.
Chronology / structure
A single-use poison-gas projectile weapon paired with an explicit kill-window mechanic (split the Carmel picture → paralysis → fire). Built on Caesar’s Gas-Gas research lineage of organophosphate WMDs (cf. “Land of the Dead”). A textbook Chekhov’s gun — a named, demonstrated weapon the plot promises will be fired.
