Name meaning
悪(ワル)ブラックドラム王国 (*Waru Burakku Doramu Ōkoku*), VIZ **'Evil Black Drum Kingdom.'** The kanji 悪 ('evil / wickedness / vice') is given the colloquial ruby reading ワル (*waru*, from 悪い *warui*, 'bad / nasty / villainous') rather than its formal on-yomi *aku* — an edgy, childishly self-aggrandizing flourish in keeping with Wapol's vanity (the register of a delinquent boasting he's 'bad'). **'Drum'** is carried over from the Drum Kingdom (Drum Island, named for its drum-shaped Drum Rockies) that Wapol once ruled and lost — a possessive callback to his old throne — with 'Black' and the boastful 'Evil/waru' bolted on. After enriching himself through his Wapol Konzern corporation, Wapol was acknowledged by the World Nobles and granted this new South-Blue kingdom. No author-stated (SBS) etymology: the kanji surface (悪 = evil, ruby *waru*) and the carried-over Drum name are documented; the 'why Black / Evil' framing is inference from Wapol's character.

Profile

A kingdom in South Blue ruled by King Wapol, the deposed former king of Drum Kingdom. First appears (Ch. 0823, pp. 8–9) via its caption “EVIL BLACK DRUM KINGDOM, SOUTH BLUE” as Wapol — alive and a king again — pesters Dalton (now king of the renamed “Cherry Blossom Kingdom,” i.e. Drum) on the way to the Reverie. How Wapol rebuilt himself into a reigning monarch is not explained on-page here. Distinct from the original Drum Kingdom he once abandoned.

Etymology

Wapol’s edgy self-aggrandizing renaming (confidence: medium). JP 悪(ワル)ブラックドラム王国 (Waru Burakku Doramu Ōkoku); VIZ “Evil Black Drum Kingdom.”
