Why this matters
Compositional grammar: the same name-card grammar Oda uses for villain introductions (Krieg’s Ch. 47 reveal, Mihawk’s Ch. 50 splash, Klahadore’s Ch. 30 reveal) is here applied to the master-figure in his pirate-captain era. The master’s introduction (in chronological-reading order) is identical in form to a villain-introduction. The compositional irony — the master is the pirate-attacker of the Orbit — is the chapter’s structural payload.
Parallel-arc-structure: Sanji-the-cook is being introduced (in the flashback) inside the very setting (the Orbit galley) the pirate-captain (Zeff) is about to attack. The chapter’s cook-crew-vs-cook-crew visual idiom — pirate cooks attacking passenger-ship cooks — primes the reader to expect the Zeff-attacks-the-ship → Zeff-encounters-the-boy → Zeff-makes-a-mercy-choice-that-costs-him-everything → Zeff-renounces-piracy → Zeff-opens-restaurant causal chain.
