The seed

Uso (嘘) = “lie” in Japanese. The character’s name is the mechanic. The chapter’s title “True Lies” points at the same compound.
The true-name-encoded-in-character-name technique is Oda’s signature foreshadowing device (see also: Buggy = bug/glitch, Kuro = black/cat, Smoker, Crocodile, Marco the Phoenix, etc.). Roronoa Zolo Name Before Face is the prototype.

Every later Usopp character beat is a lie-made-true execution:
- Sogeking (the masked hero of Sniper Island) is a fictional identity Usopp adopts and is then recognized as real by the world (bounty issued under that name).
- Sniper King is the Enies Lobby identity that lets Usopp shoot the World Government Tenryuubito-coded key.
- God Usopp is the Dressrosa Sugar moment — a fake-godhood that the entire Toy-prisoner army actually believes and rises with.
- The Wano Big Mom defeat is Usopp’s lie-of-the-attack inadvertently causing the real attack to land.
The mechanic is the character’s superpower — Usopp’s narrative function is to convert imagination into reality via committed performance.
