Why this matters

First Logia Devil-Fruit in the series. The Logia tier opens on-page in Ch. 100 as a power-level baseline above the Paramecia tier shown in chapters 1-99.

The chapter installs three structural canons:

Etymology — Moku Moku no Mi

• VIZ: Plume-Plume Fruit
• JP: モクモクの実 (Moku Moku no Mi) — moku-moku (もくもく) is the Japanese onomatopoeia for billowing smoke/steam. The doubled-onomatopoeia pattern is the Oda Devil-Fruit-naming convention (cf. Goro Goro for lightning, Suna Suna for sand, Mera Mera for flame).
