Why this matters
The recruitment-signature feat for Sanji is not the line “feed the hungry” (which is doctrine) — it is the body-language posture of putting his body between violence and a person he is morally bound to protect. The pattern’s invariance:
- Posture: arms wide, body interposed, face calm.
- Trigger: a vulnerable person is being threatened.
- Cost: Sanji takes the resulting violence in place of the protected (Ch. 56 page 11-12: Pearl-Cymbals frontal hit).
The pattern’s cost-payment in Ch. 56 is the operational confirmation that the Ch. 47 “If you want to stop me… fire.” was not just rhetoric — Sanji was prepared to take the bullets. The Ch. 56 instance shows him actually take the blow. The pattern is proven-operational, not just declared.
