The seed

Why this matters

This is the foundational Sanji-character-axiom — articulated in the first chapter where Sanji speaks at length, and consistent for the entire series. The axiom is non-negotiable: it overrides strategic considerations (feeding a starving enemy en-route to kill you), it overrides hostility, it overrides revenge.

The axiom is the series-long Sanji-test:

  • Whole Cake: Sanji cooks for Big Mom’s wedding (the axiom holds even under family-coercion)
  • Egghead: Sanji feeds Stella / Vegapunk
  • Wano: Sanji’s cooking-stance throughout
  • Any apparent betrayal of the axiom by Sanji is plot-mediated, not character-rooted. This is the predictive use-case: when Sanji appears to abandon the Straw Hats (Ch. 825+), the reader should know the axiom is intact and search for the plot-mediation.

The axiom also has an operational implementation: the save-then-kill rule — the cook-role saves the hungry, the warrior-role kills the attacker. The two roles are kept compartmentalized so each can be unconditional. See Sanji Save Then Kill Doctrine.
