still exhausted from that adventure (p. 16), asks Vivi to keep an eye on the Log Pose, says
Vivi, I’m sorry. I need some rest (p. 19), and lies down on deck. The chapter ends (p. 20) on Vivi finding Nami burning with fever —
She’s burning up with FEVER!!! … IT’S NAMI!!! .
Ch. 130 pp. 2-13 —
Maximum Speed : the fever worsens and is named as a Grand Line climate disease
Ch. 0130 develops the Ch. 0129 cliffhanger: Nami’s fever reads 104 degrees twice (pp. 4, 6) and is “getting worse.” Vivi diagnoses it generically as a Grand Line weather/climate sickness but says “I don’t know what she’s got” — echoed by Sanji, who states a cook covers nutrition but is not a doctor (pp. 3-4). This is the first on-page illness of a Strawhat crew member developed into a full arc-trigger: the crew has no doctor, the nearest known doctor (Alabasta) is a week away (p. 5), and the chapter ends with the crew committed to finding “an island with a doctor as soon as possible.” The illness is the load-bearing arc-engine that delivers Chopper to the crew and fills the long-standing doctor-slot (Luffy Needs Doctor Crew ). Nami refuses care and downplays it (“That thermometer must be broken” , “This is my normal temperature!!!” ) — a character-vulnerability beat.
Ch. 138 pp. 10-13 —
Nami’s delirium dialogue reduces to D-doctor… doctor…
Across multiple panels during the climb, the gravely ill Nami repeats only “D-doctor… doctor… doctor…” . Her speech is reduced to a single repeated word — first on-page Nami-delirium reduced-speech beat. The fever has progressed past conversational speech. The dramatic-irony grammar: she chants for the doctor without knowing the doctor’s castle is now in sight (p. 16, full-page splash). The Drum-arc rescue-stakes (Sanji’s Ch. 135 “She’ll die” line) are operationally cashed at the Nami’s-illness-has-no-time-left tier.
