Why this matters

Oda routinely plants a mundane-looking written record — a logbook, a map, a will — in a quiet beat, then makes its contents load-bearing chapters or arcs later (cf. the Road Poneglyph rubbings, Roger’s log). Momonosuke handling his father’s voyage journal during the raid is a classic low-key prop-tell: it ties the Kozuki heir to Oden’s first-hand knowledge of the wider world and the route Oden once sailed.
