The seed
Goldenweek’s signature combat-power was extensively pre-loaded across Ch. 117-120:
- Ch. 117 — easel-and-paints prop-coding on Cukor Island debut (pp. 3-4): Goldenweek sketches at an easel beside Mr. 3’s beach lounger; lollipop visual-tag.
- Ch. 118-119 — paintbrush-rendered photograph-dossier of the five primary targets; the dossier-vehicle is Goldenweek’s service set of painted portraits (Ch. 119 p. 11).
- Ch. 120 — Mr. 3 introduces her to Brogy as “my assistant Ms. Golden Week, an artist of gravity” (p. 10) — the Artist of Gravity tagline functions as a misdirection-foreshadow (the tagline-noun gravity does not match the forward-canon power).
The deadpan-flat-affect register and easel-prop coding all aim at the on-page Color-Trap deployment that pays off in Ch. 124.
The payoff
The technique is canonically ambiguous between Devil Fruit and learned hypnotic-art technique — the chapter does not commit (no fruit-name uttered; Goldenweek calls it “my Colors Trap” and “my ultimate power”). Goldenweek’s devil_fruit: frontmatter remains empty pending forward-canon clarification.
Why this matters
- Reconciles four chapters of forward-tease. The Ch. 117 easel-prop, Ch. 118-119 paintbrush-dossier, and Ch. 120 Artist of Gravity tagline all pre-loaded a color-magic technique that finally lands in Ch. 124.
- Each color tied to a specific emotion-effect — installs the color-as-emotion-vector combat-grammar.
- DF-or-technique ambiguity is the quietest-character-has-the-most-unexpected-power register in its purest form — Goldenweek’s power isn’t even definitionally classified by the chapter that names it.
- Pre-loads the Miss Golden Week’s Operation: Meet Baroque Works post-arc cover-arc (Ch. 124 cover-art debut) where Goldenweek is co-protagonist with Mr. 3.
