Miss Goldenweek Betrayal Black Paint Debut
Status: confirmed · Technique: chekhov-explicit + prop-tell
The seed / payoff
Luffy stands inside the black-circle on the ground and refuses to save the wax-bound Vivi/Zoro/Nami: “I don’t wanna save you guys!!! Yeah, but somehow, I just don’t feel like it.” (pp. 2-3). Escapes via Vivi’s reverse-psychology gambit (“We don’t want you to save us!” p. 7) — Luffy’s contrarian instinct overrides the Betrayal-Black trance.
Why this matters
- First named Color-Trap paint. Establishes the paint-circle-on-ground as locus-of-trance sub-mechanic.
- The emotion-encoded color (black = betrayal) installs Goldenweek’s color-as-emotion-vector combat-grammar.
- The Vivi reverse-psychology escape installs the Color-Trap-has-a-psychological-counter doctrine — the Color-Trap operates on instinct, but tactical-counter-instinct can override it.
