The Roman numeral I (one) implies the vessel is the first of a series. The Baratie’s combat-vessel architecture is named-as-expandable.

The payoff (pending — long-burn)

The chapter does not show or name a Mackerel Head II. Future-Claude: track any later Baratie-class or cook-vessel deployment for whether it inherits the Mackerel Head N convention. Likely candidates: any post-Baratie-arc cook-vessel; any reappearance of Zeff or the Baratie cooks at the Reverie or post-Whole Cake; any Whole Cake Sanji-cooks-rescue scene.

Why this matters

Oda’s naming-convention-implies-series technique. A name’s ordinal numeral implies an existence-set — Mackerel Head I implies the conceptual possibility of Mackerel Head II, III…. The naming convention is low-cost foreshadowing: it costs Oda one Roman numeral to install the implication that the vessel-series is expandable.
