The seed

In the chapter titled “Luffy’s Dream,” Oda lets Luffy speak his ultimate dream to the entire crew (pp. 8–9) but cuts the reader out entirely — we see only the crew’s laughter/awe and Luffy’s memory that Ace, Sabo and Shanks laughed too (Shanks in tears, p. 8).

The deliberate withhold marks the dream as the series’ thematic capstone. This chapter’s color spread (pp. 1–2) carries the “We stand for Liberty” banner (We stand for Liberty); the freedom/liberation motif (Sun God Nika / Drums of Liberation) makes liberation the leading candidate for what the dream encodes.
