The seed

The Ch 25 evidence strengthens the Ch 24 reading: the gesture is not an idle character mannerism; it appears across all three of Klahadore’s emotional registers (controlled-bedside in Ch 24, performative-grief in Ch 25 p. 9, villainous-confirmation in Ch 25 p. 19) with the same hand-movement and the same SFX-family. The repetition density is now six instances across two chapters — the chekhov-explicit reading is locked.

The Ch 25 p. 9 full-palm-over-face composition is the seed’s strongest single staging — it is the variant that most directly visualises the concealment-as-gesture prediction. When the payoff lands (the cat-claw gauntlet hidden inside the glove, or the hand-mounted weapon actuation that the heel-of-palm hides), this panel will be the most-cited backwards-reference.

The repetition density (four in seventeen pages) marks it as a chekhov-explicit prop-tell — Oda is teaching the reader to recognize the gesture before its mechanical meaning is revealed.

Predicted payoff: the palm-to-face motion will be tied to Klahadore’s true identity — either it’s the gesture of someone concealing something with his palm (a scar, a tattoo, a different face), or the heel of his palm hides the actuation of a tool. The chapter is loaded with butler-facade signals (label-panel introduction; tail-coat napkin extreme-fidelity rendering; menace-via-composure register) that all point to surface-is-not-truth. The gesture is the most legible single tell.

Companion seed to Klahadore Silhouette Reveal (the silhouette already encoded the round-glasses tell in Ch 23; Ch 24 supplies the motion tell).

The payoff

Earliest known caller

Ch 24 — the four-instance repetition density (pages 7, 8 ×2, 15) is itself the call. Ch 25 adds two more instances including the full-palm-over-face variant (p. 9) that is the most-literal staging of the concealment reading.
