Why it matters
Hatchan has a named stance-system distinct from his attacks — the structural parity with Zoro’s Santoryu (style-with-stance) is here installed. The Six-Sword Style is not just a count-of-blades but a full martial discipline with named stances + named techniques + named finishers.
Species-self-reference grammar: the takotsubo (octopus-pot) is the iconic Japanese fishing-trap that lures octopi into pots; Hatchan names his combat-stance after the trap-for-his-species. The naming is a species-coded self-reference — Hatchan’s combat-grammar is rendered in the language of his own species’ folkloric capture.
Forward-payoff
- Sun Pirates / Fish-Man Island arc Hatchan-recur (Ch. 491+, 612+) will deploy the same stance-system at a more skilled register.
- The stance-with-named-attacks combat-grammar parity with Santoryu locks the Six-Sword-Style-as-formal-discipline register.
