Ch. 74 page 14 — a man with a kanji 海 (sea/umi) cheek-tattoo and a striped headband stares wide-eyed from a building (presumably in Coco Village, watching Arlong Park from cover): “Th-this is terrible!!! Aaah!!! No!!! Killed by sister Nami!! This can’t be happening!! Brother Usopp…”

The Brother / sister Nami vocative and the cheek-tattoo identify this as Johnny of the Yosaku-Johnny duo. The chapter installs Johnny as the off-stage news-carrier.

What it predicts

Forward-payoff: the next chapter’s Luffy-arrives-and-hears-Usopp-died set-piece is mechanically triggered by Johnny’s witness this chapter. The duo’s one-stays-back-to-witness, the-other-runs-the-news mode installs.
