The seed

Arlong’s arc-villain debut splash: a near-full-page figure sprawled on his bench-throne, head thrown back roaring (HAR HAR HAR), enormous DOOM!! SFX letterforms filling the negative space across the top, and a two-line rectangular nameplate in the lower-center reading “SAW-TOOTH” ARLONG / CAPTAIN OF ARLONG’S PIRATES. This is the East Blue installation of the villain label-splash grammar (origin: Alvida, Ch. 2 p. 6 — see Villain Label-Panel Grammar First Installed).

The payoff

Big Mom’s full on-page reveal in her own territory: a near-full-page figure dominating the vertical axis, head thrown back grinning mid-laugh (HAA HA HA MA MA) as she addresses Jinbei, an enormous stylised OM!! SFX letterform anchoring the lower negative space, and a multi-line title-stack nameplate lower-center reading EMPEROR, CAPTAIN OF THE BIG MOM PIRATES / QUEEN OF TOTTO LAND / CHARLOTTE LINLIN (name rendered in the large coronation-glyph lettering). She is drawn as the quintessential grotesque-jovial Yonko matriarch — towering bulk, polka-dot dress, the unbroken grin.

The mirror (four shared invariants)

1. Near-full-page archetype-maximal figure — both villains fill the vertical axis of the page, rendered as the maximal iconographic version of their identity (Arlong the sun-coat fish-man warlord; Big Mom the colossal sweets-Emperor matriarch).
2. Head thrown back, open-mouthed laughter — Arlong’s HAR HAR HAR and Big Mom’s HAA HA HA MA MA share the same jubilant-tyrant register, head tilted back, mouth wide.
3. Large SFX letterforms in negative space — Arlong’s DOOM!! across the top / Big Mom’s OM!! along the bottom provide the entrance-thunder.
4. Lower-center title-stack nameplate — {TITLE/EPITHET} / {PROPER NAME} caption-card; Big Mom’s is extended to three lines and the name is set in the oversized coronation-glyph type.

Why this matters

The villain label-splash grammar is a graded threat-marker: a character who receives the full-figure + SFX-backdrop + title-stack nameplate treatment is being flagged as an arc-villain of operational weight, not a one-shot mook. Installed in East Blue (Alvida → Arlong → the Baroque officers), it persists across the corpus — and here, ~760 chapters after Arlong, the same composition is used to crown an Emperor of the Sea. The escalation is in the nameplate, not the grammar: where Arlong’s card said “CAPTAIN OF ARLONG’S PIRATES,” Big Mom’s leads with “EMPEROR” — the label-splash promoted to Yonko-coronation tier.
