Profile
A gang of mountain bandits on Mt. Corvo (East Blue), led by boss Curly Dadan. First shown in the childhood flashback (Ch. 582, pp. 17-19): ten years ago Garp coerces the gang into fostering young Luffy alongside Ace — making them Ace & Luffy’s foster guardians — by threatening jail for their “countless crimes.” (Goa-Kingdom / Sabo material is forward — Ch. 583+ — not on-page yet.)
Notable events
- Ch. 582 — first shown. Garp dumps young Luffy on the gang to raise alongside Ace (already their ward); boss Curly Dadan caves — “We’ll be glad to look after him!!” (p. 19). Pays off Garp Entrusted Luffy And Ace To A Friend For Training.
- Ch. 583 — the gang’s daily life raising the boys: boss Curly Dadan gives Luffy one bowl of rice and one cup of water a day (“fend for yourself”) and warns him not to snitch to Garp; she panics when Luffy goes missing for a week chasing Ace through the lethal forest (pp. 2-6). The bandits live in fear of Garp and government attention.
- Ch. 587 — the Gray Terminal rescue. The bandit family charges the burning Gray Terminal to save Ace and Luffy; boss Dadan and Ace stay behind to fight Bluejam while Dogura and the others carry Luffy to safety — afterward “Ace and Dadan didn’t come back” (pp. 9-16).
- Ch. 589 — Raise Ace then Luffy on Mt. Corvo; eat bear stew from the brothers’ hunts (p.12); see Ace off at 17 and Luffy off at 17 three years later (pp.13-16).
