Profile
Captain of the Bluejam Pirates, the pirate gang operating out of Gray Terminal under the protection of the Goa Kingdom aristocracy (“a fiend in his own right,” “the aristocracy in his pocket”). First named Ch. 583 (referenced, not shown — his couriers fear “if Captain Bluejam gets word of this, he’ll kill us all” after the child Ace robs them, p. 1). Ace and Sabo stole the crew’s money; Sabo fears the whole crew will now hunt the three boys.
Arc-by-arc updates
Post-War — off-page resolution recalled in flashback (Ch. 588) — mentioned, not shown
- Ace states he and Dadan “managed to beat Bluejam” on the night of the Gray Terminal fire (p. 10) — confirming, off-page, the outcome of the 0587 confrontation the previous chapter left unresolved. Beaten, not confirmed killed.
Post-War — childhood flashback / betrayed and burned (Ch. 587)
- Double-crossed by the Goa monarchy he served: promised ennoblement for helping burn Gray Terminal, then sealed inside the fire to die with the evidence — “You tricked me!! …I’ll remember this, you traitor!!”; his ship burns (pp. 1-2).
- Despairing and vengeful, corners Ace and Luffy for their hidden treasure (“I’d use your treasure to make a comeback and exact revenge on those blasted aristocrats”), slanders Sabo, and slashes Ace — then is set upon by Dadan and her Dadan Family bandits (pp. 5-13).
Post-War — childhood flashback / the Gray Terminal fire (Ch. 586)
- Class-resentful captain who covets an aristocrat title: “I wish I’d been born an aristocrat” (p. 2).
- Used Ace & Luffy (the paid “delivery job”) to plant the arson oil/explosives across Gray Terminal; pressured Sabo (pp. 5, 9, 13).
- Lit Gray Terminal for the nobles — then was double-crossed by the King and sealed inside the burning kingdom to die with the witnesses (“YOU TRICKED ME!!”, pp. 14-17).
Post-War — childhood flashback / hired to retrieve Sabo (Ch. 585)
- Hired by Sabo’s aristocrat father to drag the runaway boy back to Goa Kingdom’s High Town and to ensure Ace and Luffy “never come near your son again” (pp. 18-19). Mercenary and contemptuous of Gray Terminal’s discarded people (“Are you after my money, you trash?”).
Post-War — childhood flashback / “Incident with Porchemy” (Ch. 584) — first appearance (shown)
- First on-page appearance. The gang’s captain is depicted in the chapter-title splash (p. 1) — the prominent scarred figure smoking a cigar and reading the newspaper, flanked by two subordinate gangsters — and is named again in dialogue when his beaten enforcer Porchemy apologizes “I’m sorry, Captain Bluejam” (p. 12).
Post-War — childhood flashback (Ch. 583) — named, not shown
- First on-page utterance of the name Bluejam, by his own couriers in fear of his reprisal after Ace robs them (p. 15). The captain himself is not depicted this chapter. (
