Brief Syrup-Village-arc solo cover-story for Usopp. Oda’s Syrup-Village-arc equivalent of the Zoro bamboo cover-story that ran during the Orange Town arc. Usopp is alone at sea with a small craft — visually previewing Usopp’s eventual arc-role (the crew’s long-range / helmsman-adjacent member who often gets separated and returns).
See Usopp Cover Story.
Per-chapter log
- Ch. 35 — Vol. 1 (debut): Usopp in a yellow pirate hat with a wooden sword paddling on a small log-raft (with a Usopp Pirates-style jolly roger flag pinned to the sword) surrounded by leaping piranha-like fish, with palm-tree islands on the horizon. First installment of Usopp’s cover-story arc.
Notes
- Only one vault-confirmed installment surfaces; the cover-arc was likely short or absorbed by the Ch. 38 picnic cover-splash (where the proto-Straw-Hat-crew is composed visually three chapters before Usopp’s formal recruitment).
- The aspirational-tall-tale-as-cover-story register established here later annexes the chapter title itself at Ch. 70 (“The Great Adventure of Usopp the Man”) — Usopp’s self-narration grammar graduates from cover-story to chapter-title. See Usopp Adventure Of Usopp The Man Self-Naming.
