Why this matters
Retroactively re-frames the Ch. 3-22 Pirate Hunter Zolo register: the bounty-hunter career was visible enough to attract Baroque-Works-grade recruitment attention. The line directly contradicts the Ch. 42+ Yosaku-and-Johnny small-time freelance frame — Baroque Works runs an organized recruitment-pipeline for high-tier bounty hunters, and Zoro was on that pipeline’s recruitment-radar.
This is a dual-purpose reveal:
- Zoro’s pre-series career tier upgrade — Zoro was not just a famous-enough freelancer; he was famous-enough for institutional recruitment. The Pirate Hunter Zolo reputation that has preceded him into every East Blue arc now has organizational-tier validation.
- Baroque Works’ recruitment-grammar canonization — the organization actively scouts and targets high-tier bounty hunters. Their recruitment-pipeline is institutional, not opportunistic. This pre-loads every later Baroque-Works-agent introduction (Mr. 5, Mr. 3, Mr. 2, Mr. 1) under the doctrine: each agent was recruited by name from the bounty-hunter ecosystem.

The Ch. 107 line is also a load-bearing tell for Worlds Greatest Swordsman — Zoro’s world’s greatest swordsman dream is a goal he chose over institutional recruitment-into-an-organized-bounty-hunter-syndicate. The dream is more important than security/income, which re-keys the entire post-Mihawk I-cannot-fall doctrine.
